This October, the Edgemont Community in Dayton received a vibrant boost through Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton’s Rock the Block event, sponsored by Fifth Third Bank. Over 10 home improvement projects were completed, and local public spaces were cleaned up with the help of dedicated volunteers. The nearly 100 volunteers at the event collectively contributed over 400 hours of service to their local community. The day was filled with energy as neighbors came together, not just to transform their community, but to connect at the event’s resource fair, where over 20 community organizations offered valuable information and services.
This year’s fall event title sponsor was Fifth Third Bank. Additional support for this event came from MW Metals, who sponsored lunch for all the volunteers, and Cardinal Roofing, who donated their services to local homeowners, making a tangible difference in the neighborhood. The City of Dayton, Five Rivers Health Center, Wright Patt Credit Union, The Greater Edgemont Community Coalition, and County Corp are also long-standing partners that made the day possible.
To wrap up the day of transformation, volunteers delivered 50 mums to Edgemont residents, a blooming reminder of what happens when a community unites to uplift one another.
Rock the Block will return in the spring of 2025. For further details and updates, individuals are encouraged to visit the official website at https://bit.ly/3LFATPQ.
