Frequently Asked Questions
-
I am a renter. Can Habitat help me?
We are unable to repair rental properties but you may be able to get help by calling United Way's 2-1-1 hotline.
-
Will it cost me anything to repair my home?
No. In the rare instance that a homeowner would be expected to pay, that information would be made known prior to the beginning of any project.
-
My repair is an emergency and needs completed NOW! Can Habitat help?
Unfortunately, we are unable to help with emergency repairs. If your repair need is urgent, we recommend you call United Way's 2-1-1 hotline.
-
Do I need to volunteer to be eligible for a repair?
No. Sweat equity volunteer hours are only required for our homeownership program.
-
Do all applications get approved?
No. You must first meet all criteria regarding income, need, location, etc. Due to the nature of our funding, we may be limited on what projects we can do and where we can do them. Habitat tries to help as many families as we can, but we are limited by the amount of repair funding and our volunteer and staff capacity.
-
How long will I have to wait for my repair to be completed?
Once approved, it could take 6-12 months for your repair to be scheduled and completed.
