New beginnings were the focus during the CenterPoint Energy Foundation Build Groundbreaking earlier this month. Representatives from CenterPoint Energy, FHLB Cincinnati, Montgomery County, and more joined Dynasty to celebrate the beginning of the construction of her new home.
Dynasty is a single mother of five children, all under the age of eight. For her, this new home means giving her children a solid foundation. After the Memorial Day tornados left them reliant on family members, Dynasty remained focused on providing a better future for her children. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton was the first program to give Dynasty a real chance at homeownership. By exceeding Dayton Habitat’s 275 sweat equity service hour requirement, Dynasty has shown her commitment to providing her family with more.
The event was filled with laughs and happy tears as Dynasty’s family and friends came out to support her. After hearing from Dayton Habitat and community supporters, Dynasty was given the opportunity to say a few words.
“The journey to this point has been filled with challenges, but each one has made this moment even more meaningful.” While wiping a tear from her face, Dynasty stated, “Balancing work, raising five children, and striving to create a better future has been tough, but knowing that we would soon have a place to call our own, it makes it all worth it.”
The event concluded with Dynasty, all five of her children, CenterPoint Energy’s representatives, and Dayton Habitat’s executive director breaking ground on the new build site. You can learn more and support this build at CenterPoint Energy Foundation Build (daytonhabitat.org).
