After seven months of dedicated effort, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton will be hosting a dual dedication ceremony for their Women Build homes on Friday, October 27. This year's Women Builds initiative, which commenced on March 30th, has been propelled by the unwavering commitment of local volunteers. Because of these individuals and groups, both homes will finish how they started, together.
The Women Build homes will soon be cherished by two remarkable single mothers, Kasandra and Olive, and their families. Kasandra, a devoted preschool teacher, carries forward a legacy of Habitat homeownership, having grown up in a Habitat home herself. Her dream of a place to call her own is finally becoming a reality, promising cherished memories with her daughter Aa’sjayla. Aa’sjayla is looking forward to having her own practice space for her cello and artwork.
Olive, a resilient refugee who has overcome numerous hurdles, now works as a medical lab technician, exemplifying the power of determination and hard work. Her sons, Oliver and Olis, eagerly anticipate the safety and freedom of their new home. Oliver, a college student, desires his own space, and Olis, a typical three-year-old, is excitedly envisioning a play area of his own.
Both Kasandra and Olive have actively participated in the Habitat program, volunteering at the ReStore and gaining invaluable insights from the Homeowner classes. Their dedication exemplifies the spirit of Women Build, a program dedicated to empowering women and fostering stronger, more vibrant communities.
Elizabeth Breitenstein, Market President at Fischer Homes and the 2023 Women Build Committee Chair, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "It is truly a remarkable feeling to be a part of something like this and to be able to build these homes for two extraordinary women and their families. I can't wait to see what we accomplish next."
Join Dayton Habitat for the Women Build Home dedications on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, at 2808 and 2810 Gaylord Ave., Kettering, OH 45419, as they celebrate the culmination of this extraordinary journey towards providing safe and stable homes for Kasandra, Olive, and their families.
