Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton recently received a significant gift from the Sisters of the Precious Blood to be used on one of our home building projects in Trotwood. The generous funding was given through Catch the Building Spirit, a partnership of Catholic and Presbyterian churches working in cooperation with Habitat for Humanity to build affordable homes for low income families in Greater Dayton. This is the 28th year in which Catch the Building Spirit has partnered with Dayton Habitat to build affordable homes.
In a small gathering at the build site on October 7th, were representatives from the Sisters of the Precious Blood, Catch the Building Spirit, the partner family, and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton. “We are proud of the work both Catch the Building Spirit and Habitat for Humanity do to help families have decent housing,” said Sister Edna. “We are especially pleased that this is happening here in Trotwood since we are also residents of Trotwood and we call this home.”
Norm Miozzi, Dayton Habitat’s Executive Director, commented, “I am honored to accept this wonderful donation on behalf of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton. We know from experience that this home represents a real and positive change in the life of this family. When our organizations work together in this way, we can have a lasting impact in our community. Thank you to Catch the Building Spirit and the Sisters of the Precious Blood for making this possible.”
