Accepted Donations
Thank you for your interest in donating to the Dayton Habitat's ReStores. Below is a list of items our ReStores can accept.
- Appliances: Washers, dryers, refrigerators, microwaves, stoves, window air conditioning units, space heaters, stainless steel dishwashers, and flat screen televisions. All appliances must be clean and in good working condition. Refrigerators must be less than ten years old.
- Architectural Items: Columns, antiques, mantels, etc. Fireplace inserts.
- Art/Décor: Good quality artwork and home décor items.
- Cabinets: Kitchen and bathroom cabinets in generally good condition, complete with doors or drawers. All wall securing screws removed. No water damage.
- Countertops: Good condition with minimal chips/damage. Straight only and min 4 feet long. Must not have any holes cut for sinks/faucets. No granite (unless it has finished edges, no cutouts).
- Doors: No broken glass, holes/gouges, or water damage/splinters, and not bowed/twisted.
- Electronics: Functioning electronics in good condition only. Flat screen TV’s only, no tube type TVs.
- Flooring: Wood, tile, vinyl, area rugs/pads. New items only with 100 square feet minimum.
- Furniture: In generally good, used condition. Upholstered furniture, chairs, couches, tables, bed sets without bedding, etc (Not floral). Gently used with no holes, gouges, discoloration, or broken legs. Must be 10 years old or newer (if you believe the item is vintage or in style, contact the ReStore to see if it can be accepted).
- Hardware: Knobs, hinges, locks, nails, cabinet pulls, bolts, nuts, screws.
- Lighting Fixtures and Ceiling Fans: In generally good used condition. Please no broken or missing components. No fluorescent light fixtures. Lamps with shades in great condition only. Cordless blinds accepted.
- Lumber: We accept trim and lumber. Minimal 8′ length. Free of nails, rot, paint, and water damage.
- Metal Recycling: Items made primarily of metal.
- Mirrors: Must be framed and in good condition.
- Outdoor: small amounts of landscaping/paving stone, seasonal yard equipment and items.
- Paint: Only full unopened cans of latex paint or stain from commercial paint suppliers.
- Plumbing: Parts, and supplies. No faucets or soldered copper fittings.
- Plywood Sheathing: Half/full sheets, good condition only. No water damage or partial pieces.
- Tools: Hand, garden, working power tools. Lawn mowers. Bicycles.
- Windows: Complete and usable units only, non-fogged, clear glass only. Insulated glass. No broken glass. No single pane windows, unless decorative. No metal frames or painted wood frames.
You may drop donations off at either of our ReStore locations during business hours Tuesday through Saturday. The Dayton ReStore is closed for lunch from 12 pm – 1 pm and does not accept donations during this time. Both locations are closed Sunday and Monday. For larger items, please call us at 937-222-2296 or sign up online to schedule your free donation pickup today. Items need to be cleaned prior to donation.
UPDATE: At this time, all donations to the Dayton ReStore location must be approved prior to being donated. Please call ahead!
We apologize, but the following items cannot be accepted
Any item deemed unsellable in our store: Examples include items with damaged or broken components, stains, rips, tears, pet damage, water damage, discoloration, or other condition issues. This can also include items that do not do well in our store for a wide variety of reasons.
- Armoires
- Bedding or linens
- Blinds (Corded or uncorded)
- Car maintenance or repair supplies (oil, jack stand, etc.)
- Chemicals (ex. Lawn, pest, pool, and/or finishing)
- China cabinets
- Clothing, shoes, bags
- CRT TVs or large tv stands
- Cultured marble vanity tops
- Cut carpet
- Desks
- Drapes or fabric window dressings of any kind
- Entertainment centers
- hot tubs, or soldered copper fittings
- Floral print or Early American print loveseats/couches/chairs
- Fluorescent bulbs, tubes, or fixtures
- Furniture that is older than 10 years/outdated
- Glass shower doors
- Hardware (smaller misc. unboxed or unlabeled items like buckets of nails and screws)
- Hospital beds, medical equipment
- Large amounts of landscaping patio / paving stone and brick
- Lumber less than 8 ft in length or containing nails or covered with oil or lead paint
- Mattresses or box springs
- Oil based or lead based paint
- Open or used paint
- Organic materials (Ex. Live plants)
- Pet Supplies
- Pianos or organs
- Recalled or damaged items
- Shingles
- Tile or flooring less than 100 sq ft, or unboxed tile
- Sleeper sofas or pull-out beds
- Unframed glass or mirrors
- Used carpet and/or padding
- Used vinyl flooring with glue or nail hole damage
- Windows with wood or metal frames
