Meet Adriana and her family!

A mother stands with her four children (3 girls and 1 boy)

Adriana is building more than a home—she’s building a future.
As this year’s Women Build homebuyer, Adriana represents what Women Build is all about. A single mother of four, Adriana has spent her life adapting, persevering, and putting her children first. Originally from San Diego, California, she moved frequently growing up—living in six different states by the age of 12. That experience shaped her vision for something different: stability, security, and a place her children could truly call home.
When Adriana discovered Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton’s program, she didn’t hesitate. She saw an opportunity not just to change her circumstances, but to build a new foundation for her family.
Balancing life as a devoted mom, an administrative assistant at a roofing company, and a cashier at a local restaurant, Adriana is no stranger to hard work. Through Habitat’s program, she completed homeownership classes and dedicated more than 275 sweat equity volunteer hours— working alongside volunteers and helping build homes for other families. In those moments, she found strength, confidence, and a powerful sense of motivation.
Soon, Adriana will make her first “big” purchase: a home of her own. But for her, it means so much more than that. It’s proof of her resilience. It’s a promise to her children. It’s a space where they can grow, dream, and thrive.
With plans to plant a garden, decorate each room, and create lasting memories, Adriana is ready to turn her house into a home. Her children are just as excited—dreaming of a yard, a trampoline, and the simple joy of having a place that is truly theirs. And within those walls, big dreams are already taking shape: becoming a police officer, an ice cream truck driver, a doctor, and a lawyer.
For Adriana, this home is the beginning of everything.
Because when women are empowered, they don’t just build houses—they build futures, families, and stronger communities.
