Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton challenges you to put your faith into action and get involved with our Faith Family! By getting involved with Habitat's mission to build homes, communities, and hope, you are doing just that! We are thankful to have closed on our FIRST Faith Build this year in Miamisburg! KaCey and her daughter are settling into their new community nicely, thanks to our support!
Prayers for the successful completion of all this year's Habitat Builds, including Women Build, the PNC Build, and the CareSource Workforce Development Build.

Make in-kind donations of used or new items to our three ReStore locations in Dayton and Springfield. See daytonhabitat.org/restore for more information.
Organize a fundraiser with proceeds going to Habitat’s mission of providing affordable housing.
Refer families who are in need of affordable housing or critical repairs to Habitat.
Schedule a presentation by a local Habitat employee, which will explain our mission in detail and offer a Q & A opportunity.

Faith Family Members

We are eternally thankful for our Habitat Faith Family members. We could not spread God’s love like we have been able to do all these years without you. Below is a list of our current Habitat Faith Family members.

Our Faith Roots

Faith has been the foundation of Habitat for Humanity since its humble beginnings in 1976. Founded by a preacher and his wife, Millard and Linda Fuller, and born within a Christian fellowship community called "Koinonia," Habitat began as one of Koinonia's outreach programs, building a few homes for underserved families. Koinonia Farm still stands today, as a thriving ministry built around Habitat's rich history of community service and a thriving pecan farm. Locally, ours is the oldest Ohio Habitat affiliate, founded in the basement of a Montgomery County church in 1983.

Building a Home in Honor of the Carters

In honor of Former President Jimmy Carter and the late First Lady Rosalynn Carter, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton is building a new home in New Carlisle. Tireless advocates for affordable, decent housing, the Carter family dedicated over three decades to Habitat. Their work left an indelible mark on families around the world.

The Carters' commitment to Habitat's mission has been unwavering. Their journey with Habitat for Humanity began in 1984, marking the genesis of the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project. Over the years, the Carter Work Project has built, renovated and repaired 4,417 homes in 14 countries. This was done with the help of 106,100 volunteers. The Carters’ compassion and dedication illuminated the path for a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

In honor of their impact, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton is proud to announce their latest endeavor - a branded build that echoes the spirit of commitment and community the Carters championed. This project stands as a tribute to the Carters' extraordinary dedication and continues their legacy of creating homes and transforming lives.

The partner family for the Carter Honor Build this year could not be more resilient. Dionka is a remarkable woman whose dream of providing stability and safety for her four children has led her to Dayton Habitat. Having rented homes for years, Dionka faced adversity after surgery left her unable to work, landing her and her family in a homeless shelter. Today, she strives for a better life for her children, navigating the challenges of an unsafe neighborhood and an ill-maintained home.

Dionka's story embodies the essence of what Habitat stands for—a chance for families to break the cycle of uncertainty and build a secure future. She, too, is embarking on a life-changing journey as a Habitat Homebuyer, ready to provide her children with a stable and safe environment they can call their own.

Dayton Habitat invites you to be part of this transformative journey. The Carter family's commitment echoes in every wall raised, and Dionka's determination radiates in every nail driven. Your support through volunteering or donating ensures that dreams continue to be built, and families like Dionka's find the stability they deserve.
