Excited and grateful are just some of the words that Taveon & Lindsey have used to describe their journey with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton. For this young couple, homeownership represents more than having a place to live. It is an opportunity to create a safe, stable home where they can watch their son grow and build a strong foundation for their family’s future.
At 26, Taveon works as an industrial cleaner, while 24-year-old Lindsey has spent the past five years working as a shift manager at a fast food restaurant. Together, they have built a life centered around their family. Whether they are spending an afternoon at the park, going swimming, or gathering around the table to play games at home, Taveon and Lindsey cherish the simple moments they share with their son.
As their family has grown, so has their need for space. Their current apartment, once a comfortable place to call home, is becoming too small for their growing family. They are looking forward to having a home where their son can have room to grow and where they can create a safe and welcoming environment.
Through Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton’s homeownership program, Taveon & Lindsey are taking important steps toward making that dream a reality. As part of the program, future homeowners contribute sweat equity volunteer hours and complete homeownership education as they prepare for the responsibilities of owning a home.
From volunteering at the Springfield ReStore to working diligently in class, Taveon & Lindsey have embraced all aspects of this journey. Through the classes, Taveon & Lindsey have learned more about the costs and responsibilities that come with owning a home, helping them feel better prepared for this next chapter.
Most importantly, Taveon & Lindsey are excited about what homeownership will mean for their family. They are grateful for the opportunity to work toward a home of their own and are looking forward to creating a place filled with love, laughter, and memories.
