Accepted Donations

Thank you for your interest in donating to one of our ReStore locations. Below is a list of items that Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton ReStores can accept:

Appliances: Washers, dryers, refrigerators (under 10 years old), microwaves, stoves, window A/C units, space heaters, stainless steel dishwashers, flat-screen TVs. Must be clean and working.

Architectural Items: Columns, antiques, mantels, fireplace inserts.

Art/Décor: Good-quality artwork and home décor.

Cabinets: Kitchen/bath, generally good condition, complete with doors/drawers, wall-securing screws removed, no water damage.

Countertops: Good condition, minimal chips, straight pieces only (min 4 ft), no sink/faucet cutouts, no granite unless finished edges with no cutouts, no cultured marble vanity tops.

Doors: No broken glass, holes, gouges, water damage, splinters, or warping. No glass shower doors.

Electronics: Functioning only. Flat-screen TVs only, no tube-type (CRT).

Flooring: Wood, tile, vinyl, area rugs/pads. New only, 100 sq ft minimum. No used or loose flooring, no unboxed tile.

Furniture: Generally good, used condition, no holes/gouges/discoloration/broken legs, 10 years old or newer. No floral or Early American print upholstery. No armoires, china cabinets, entertainment centers, sleeper sofas, pianos/organs, hospital beds, large TV stands, or desks (bookcases and file cabinets are fine).

Hardware: Knobs, hinges, locks, cabinet pulls — boxed/packaged items only. No loose nails, screws, or fasteners — original, unopened packaging required. Commercial or bulk hardware donations: contact us directly rather than dropping off.

Lighting & Ceiling Fans: Good condition, no broken/missing parts, no fluorescent bulbs/tubes/fixtures, no brass. Lamps only with shades in great condition. No blinds, corded or uncorded.

Lumber & Trim: Minimum 8 ft, free of nails, oil, oil- or lead-based paint, rot, or water damage. Trim accepted only as a matching set or minimum quantity, not single pieces.

Mirrors: Framed and in good condition only.

Outdoor/Lawn & Garden: Small amounts of landscaping or paving stone/brick, seasonal yard equipment. No live plants or organic material.

Plumbing: Parts and supplies. No faucets, no soldered copper fittings, no hot tubs.

Plywood Sheathing: Half or full sheets, good condition, no water damage or partial pieces.

Tools: Hand tools, garden tools, working power tools, lawn mowers, bicycles.

Windows: Complete and usable, non-fogged, clear glass only, insulated glass. No broken glass, no single-pane unless decorative, no wood or metal frames (vinyl/composite only).

Note: Meeting these standards doesn't guarantee acceptance — items may still be declined based on current sell-through rate, on-hand inventory, or storage capacity.

Any item deemed unsellable in our store: Examples include items with damaged or broken components, stains, rips, tears, pet damage, water damage, discoloration, or other condition issues. This can also include items that do not do well in our store for a wide variety of reasons.

Armoires
Bedding or linens
Blinds (Corded or uncorded)
Brass light fixtures
Box springs or mattresses
Car maintenance or repair supplies (oil, jack stand, etc.)
Children's items for under age 12 (cribs, play pens, toy chests, playsets, etc.)
Chemicals (ex. Lawn, pest, pool, and/or finishing)
China cabinets
Clothing, shoes, bags
CRT TVs or large tv stands
Cultured marble vanity tops
Cut carpet and/or padding
Dehumidifiers
Desks
Drapes or fabric window dressings of any kind
Entertainment centers
Fabric (bedding, linens, drapes, etc.)
Flooring/tile under 100 sq ft or unboxed
Floral print or Early American print loveseats/couches/chairs
Fluorescent bulbs, tubes, or fixtures
Fogged or non-clear glass windows
Furniture that is older than 10 years/outdated
Glass shower doors
Hardware (smaller misc. loose/unpackaged/unlabeled items like buckets of nails, fasteners and screws)
Hospital beds
Illegal items
Laptops/Desktop computers/Jump drives
Large amounts of landscaping patio / paving stone and brick
Lumber less than 8 ft in length or containing nails or covered with oil or lead paint or with rot/water damage
Mattresses or box springs
Medical equipment
Metal recycling
Organic materials (Ex. Live plants)
Paint of any kind- full, opened, latex, oil-based, or otherwise, in any condition
Pesticides
Pet Supplies
Pianos or organs
Plants and organic materials
Recalled or damaged items
Shingles
Single-piece loose trim
